Lord Lewis the Velvet Knight is an avid record collector, vinyl DJ and host of the legendary Rumpus Room radio show on WESU, which has been on the air since 2002. He is one of CT’s premier deep cut selectors and his radio show, one of the hidden jewels of non-commercial CT radio, is unrivaled for its musical curation, primarily showcasing the best from the contemporary deep funk, soul, jazz, afrobeat, world, reggae, dub and dance underground that ranges from US based bands to international in scope – as well as classic rare groove and exclusives. He is an impeccable tastemaker whose show is truly one of kind and a singularly unique deep journey through various rich underground veins of music.
As a consummate music obsessive and nightlife aficionado as well, Lord Lewis traces his influences to various music, dance, and DJ subcultures from the original UK mod scene of the 60s to Northern Soul, NYC disco to Ibiza (balearic and cosmic disco), UK acid jazz to deep funk; ska, rocksteady, reggae and Jamaican sound system culture to hip-hop and post-punk.
The Rumpus Room airs every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Monday of the month from 8-9:30 pm on WESU 88.1 FM.
You can listen and stream his past radio shows on Mixcloud at and follow him on Facebook www.facebook.com/djlordlewis and Instagram @hondomondo
